Keep up with Komen: September eNews

Komen Oregon & SW Washington invests dollars in programs based on priorities identified in the community-health education, screening and early detection resources, support to survivors and fighters, cutting-edge research locally and advocacy for breast health services and patient rights.

A MESSAGE FROM OUR CEO

AndrewAsato-Sept-01.jpg

Since early summer, I have traveled more than 2,500 miles across Oregon and Southwest Washington listening and learning from individuals, businesses and organizations within the greater breast cancer community. From physicians, nurses, researchers and hospital administrators to community health care providers, cancer centers, sister breast cancer organizations, survivors and fighters, I am moved by the common thread weaved through our collective fabric – that is to save lives and end breast cancer. This is a disease that will affect one in seven women in our region, during their lifetime. This is why, as we get ready to race for the ones we love in Portland and Eugene, we are so grateful for the generosity of the community partners, volunteers and donors who fuel Komen’s mission in our communities, funding early detection with free mammograms and screenings, financial help for transportation to treatment in rural areas, critical survivor support, and research to find better treatments. Together we are truly making a difference in the lives of individuals and families affected by breast cancer.
